Frequently Asked Questions

How it works

How do Capillus products work?

As the foundation from which hair grows, a healthy hair follicle is vital to the long-term growth and health of the hair. Many hair loss conditions, like pattern baldness, are associated with degradation within the hair follicle (e.g. miniaturization, dormancy, etc.) Capillus laser caps are designed to improve cellular respiration within the hair follicle, which has been shown to increase oxygen availability, nutrient delivery, and promote a healthy hair growth cycle.

How does Capillus® compare to other physicians’ “dome” and laser comb products?

The two most popular alternatives to Capillus laser caps are low level laser therapy (LLLT) “domes” at physicians’ offices, and personal-use laser combs.

LLLT domes offer LLLT that is both powerful and comprehensive, which may be effective in reversing the signs of hair loss. However, patients ultimately need to make time to visit the physician’s office for treatment every other day.

At-home products offer the clear advantage of flexibility and convenience. However, laser combs fall short. Laser combs feature only a small number of laser diodes and must be brushed through the hair for the duration of treatment. Most patients grow tired of combing their hair for up to 30 minutes every other day, leading them to quit treatment before results are achieved.

Capillus laser caps combine the power of a physician’s office dome with the convenience of a laser comb. With 272 lasers, the FDA-cleared Capillus272 Pro device offers more power and hair follicle stimulation than any other home-use LLLT device. Capillus is also battery operated, awarding patients the flexibility to use the product anywhere, at any time.

After the initial charge, please charge the Battery Pack only when final light is blinking. Please refer to page 5 of your manual.

How do I know when to charge my cap?

After the initial charge, please charge the Battery Pack only when final light is blinking. Please refer to page 6 of your manual.

Do I need to unplug the charging cable or can I leave it plugged in when I use the cap?

I’m holding the cap and pressing the power button but the cap doesn’t turn on. Why?

There is a sensor on the inside of the device that only allows light to be emitted when the cap is on the head. As an eye safety precaution, if the device is not on your head when you turn it on, the lasers will not stay on. When you place the cap on your head, the sensors are triggered, and the laser dome will turn on. Please refer to page 6 of your manual.

Should I hold the power button to turn on the cap?

Place the laser dome on your head and simply TAP (do not “hold”) the power button to begin treatment. This is also demonstrated in a video titled “How to turn your Capillus Cap on & off.”

My cap won’t turn on at all. What are some of the reasons?

If the battery pack is on but the cap is not turning on, check the following:

Sensor: There is a sensor in the cap that only allows light to be emitted when the cap is on your head.

Secure Connection: Check connection between cap and battery pack.

Battery Level: Check your battery charge level or charge battery.

If your battery pack is not turning on, review the following:

Ensure that you are not holding the “on” button down too long. Just a TAP on the button for on and a longer hold for off.
